Only Time: Deja Vu
Prologue
By J. Marie
Warning!! This is a lemon yaoi fanfiction starring Nakago and Tasuki from Fushigi Yugi. It is rated NC-17. Why, you ask, am I writing a Nakago x Tasuki fic? Well, the answer is simple. My favorite character is Tasuki. My second favorite is Nakago. There you go. But I will not just shove my favorite characters together in bed just so I can write about them fucking. I promise to produce a good plot, and a lengthy storyline, possibly even an epic (if I may use the word to refer to my own work). I will show you the magnetism Nakago and Tasuki would have produced, if the writer of Fushigi Yugi had deigned to have Nakago and Tasuki interact more deeply. I firmly believe that there is chemistry between the irascible Tasuki and the cold Nakago. And I shall endeavor to show you just that, and pray that that my writing skills don't fall short of my storyline. This story takes place six years after the end of the third OVA, (which is the end of the Fushigi Yugi series) in Miaka's world, which basically translates into twenty years later in the Universe of the Four Gods. I have also included the lyrics to "Only Time: Deja Vu" by Enya for mood setting. If there are any incongruities between my story and the manga, that's because this is based solely off the anime. Well, I'm done being pretentious now, so I'll get to work.
Who can say
where the road goes
where the day flows
- only time
And who can say
If your love grows
as your heart chose
- only time
Who can say
why your heart sighs
as your love flies
- only time
And who can say
why your heart cries
when your love lies
- only time
Who can say
when the roads meet
that love might be
in your heart
And who can say
when the day sleeps
If the night keeps
all your heart
Night keeps all your heart
And who can say
If your love grows
as your heart chose
- only time
Who can say
where the road goes
where the day flows
- only time
Who knows - only time
Who knows - only time
-- "Only Time" by Enya
"You're being ridiculous."
"I demand equal rights for my senshi."
"This is silly."
"It's unfair."
"Life's unfair."
"It's unbalancing."
Judging by the look of hesitation and the pause in the argument, Seiryu knew he had already won. Taiitsukun was a hard one to win an argument with, but balance and order would always win her over.
A delicate hand rested on his hip, and his lover/rival Suzaku rested his head on Seiryu's shoulder, smiling up at the Dragon God. Seiryu smiled gently down at the Phoenix God. This argument was so much easier with Suzaku's support. Seiryu placed a gentle kiss on Suzaku's red lips.
"Oh, would you two knock it off. I'm not a yaoi fan, and all you're doing is irritating me," Taiitsukun growled, her ugly face scowling.
"Come now, Taiitsukun. We only recently made up. We're allowed our moments of affection," Suzaku said with a smug smile.
"Of course you are. But not in front of me. It makes me ill," the old woman snarled.
"Well, we're not here to flaunt our reconciliation before you, Taiitsukun. We're here to ensure you reincarnate the Seiryu Seven just as you did the Suzaku Seven," Seiryu said arrogantly.
Taiitsukun made a rude noise and muttered something about gods and their egos beneath her breath. "Alright. You both have a point about maintaining balance, I'll give you that. And none of the Seiryu Seven have been reborn yet, and I was holding off on the Suzaku Seven until Chichiri finally died, which he just did. But you must know that since Tamahome had been reborn in your Priestesses' world, I was planning on reincarnating the other six there as well. Which means that the Seiryu Seven will also be reborn in Miaka and Yui's world," the old woman told the two gods.
"Well... their souls will all return to our universe when they die over there, right?" Suzaku asked in mild confusion as Seiryu nodded in understanding.
"Of course. They will return before the hundred-year cycle returns to you or Seiryu. I am just making you aware that the two of you will have little influence over any of their lives in the other world," Taiitsukun said.
"What does that mean?" Suzaku asked, as Seiryu look disappointed.
"It means you can't meddle, you divine idiot!" the old woman exclaimed, exasperated.
"How dare you call me an idiot!! I have half a mind to burn you to a crisp for that!!" Suzaku cried, looking affronted.
"And I, to drown you, for insulting my love!" Seiryu growled dangerously.
"Oh please. The two of you were at each other's throats not twenty years ago. This love-hate cycle really gets on my nerves..." Taiitsukun sighed.
"Your face gets on my nerves!" Suzaku shouted, his red hair waving like fire as his temper ignited.
"Surely with all the holy power at your disposal, you could have found a way to fix your face of it's unbearable ugliness," Seiryu said stiffly, his blue hair flowing like water in his annoyance.
"That's it. I've had it," Taiitsukun growled and at that moment, the divine couple was flash-fried, leaving the pair smudged, their hair on end, and their clothes ruined.
"That wasn't nice!" Suzaku cried, using his divine power to restore his appearance to its normal radiant beauty.
"That really was over the top, Taiitsukun," Seiryu growled, using his own divine power to restore his own appearance to its normal calm beauty.
"Remember that I'm in charge around here! Not you quartet of sexually confused divine animals! Without me, you wouldn't have a universe to rule over, and you both know it! I swear you act like god-like versions of Tasuki and Nakago!" Taiitsukun cried out in exasperation.
"Well, of course. Each god has a certain celestial warrior that reflects his personality and even his appearance the most. Tasuki reflects Suzaku the most, and Nakago reflects me the most. I'm surprised you didn't know that, Taiitsukun. Aren't you supposed to know everything?" Seiryu asked haughtily.
"Uh, what he said," Suzaku smiled.
"Hmph! And you think I remember it all?? I remember what's important, and that fact certainly isn't important. Though it does explain why Tasuki's an idiot, and Nakago's a jerk," Taiitsukun smirked, causing both Seiryu and Suzaku to look enraged.
"How about I reincarnate Tasuki as a slug and Nakago as a toad?" Taiitsukun smirked, enjoying her moment of power. In many realms, the Four Gods outshined her holy power, but in reincarnation and in souls, it was Taiitsukun who ruled absolutely.
The couple went silent, and settled for merely glaring at the old woman. Taiitsukun smiled pleasantly.
"As I was trying to tell you earlier, the memories of their past life will be hidden deep within their souls' recesses, as the memories of past lives usually do. The only way they will recall this memory is by touching The Universe of the Four Gods book... But they will all be reincarnated. So is what I have offered agreeable to all?" Taiitsukun asked airily.
"Yes," the couple said in bored unison.
"Excellent. I shall begin the rebirth process. They shall all be born within a year of each other, and I'm almost positive that they will all be together. Their souls still have a connection, and I think they will all be born near their respective priestess...."
7 orbs of blue light and 6 orbs of red light appeared from nothingness, circling and surrounding Taiitsukun, who took on her full yin/yang appearance, becoming neither male or female. The colors dimmed as their memories receded within their souls, becoming a pure white. Taiitsukun reached out with one hand and opened a doorway to the other world, where the Priestess of Suzaku and Seiryu dwelled. The orbs spun away from Taiitsukun and through the doorway, each searching for their new bodies.
"It is done. You may watch them, but that is the limit of your scope into their world at the moment," Taiitsukun said, and changed back into her usual form.
"Well, our gratitude for your kindness to both our senshi. We shall certainly be seeing you again," Seiryu bowed.
"So when will you two hate each other again?" Taiitsukun asked sourly, eyeing the way Suzaku and Seiryu all but made out in front of her.
"In about eighty years," Seiryu blinked as Suzaku nuzzled his neck happily.
"Try not to visit me until then."
